I have had a keen love of art my whole life.  At an early age, I was influenced by my father’s interest in oil painting.  Although my dad was a Sunday painter, he exposed my siblings and me to the idea of a life centered around artistic expression. A native Texan, I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas.  While living in Dallas and working in the corporate world, I started selling my art in galleries.  I have painted full-time since moving to San Antonio in 2012.

In addition to my degree in art I’ve studied with artists who have been a great source of knowledge and inspiration.  Some of the artists whom I’ve studied with include Kim English, Ann Templeton, Peggi Kroll Roberts, Calvin Laing, Ken Auster, Milt Kobyashi, Ray Vinella, Huihan Lu, Gordon Fowler, Leslie Rich, Jill Carver, and Derrick Pinex.

Legacy artists who I draw inspiration from include Wolf Kahn and Lucien Freud.

One aspect of painting that I find compelling is painting outdoors or “plein air”.  I’ve been to Europe several times on plein air painting trips and have painted in Venice, Portugal, and Paris, as well as San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.  I belonged to the Outdoors Painters Society for many years and participated in painting events in Texas, including Big Bend and the Texas hill country.

In the last few years, I have taken my plein air skills into my studio and have focused on bringing my own voice to a subject, whether it’s a  landscape, urban landscape, or a still life painting.  I enjoy the freedom of combining an impressionist style with a slightly more abstract style.  Painting in the studio allows me to paint larger pieces and take the time I need to complete my vision.

I currently live in the King William neighborhood in San Antonio with my husband, Jeff Sibley.
